The IEC award of excellence trophy is a direct reflection of the quality of workmanship that Cynergy Electric Company Inc. has to offer their customers. The Back River Waste Water Treatment Plant, located in Middle River, is a new three (3) megawatt cogeneration power plant. The plant was specifically designed and built for the city of Baltimore to provide electricity to the plant through the process of utilizing the methane gas produced to power the three one (1) megawatt generators which in turn provide power to the plants existing electrical grid.
The project consisted of new BGE 35kv switches and metering cubicles, 500kva and 5000kva transformers, motor control center, fire alarm system and small electrical panel boards for normal lighting and power requirements. It also consisted of three one (1) megawatt generators, three steam generators, heat exchanges, VFD's, methane gas detection system, gas conditioning skids, condenser fans, after coolers, and a new 5kv paralleling switchgear lineup provided by Curtis Engine.
The project consisted of an enormous amount of rigging, instrumentation control conduit and 35KV cabling including the normal electrical equipment support requirements. A big thank you goes out to all our associates who worked on this project and who really made the project turn out to be. The IEC "Award of Excellence" was the result of our associate's dedication to detail and hard work. (Al Swann, Project Manager)
